Fact Snippet

In developing countries some 2.5 billion people are forced to rely on biomass—fuelwood, charcoal and animal dung—to meet their energy needs for cooking. In sub-Saharan Africa, over 80% of the population depends on traditional biomass for cooking, as do over half of the populations of India and China

Strategy Development & Implementation

Rural Access addresses this task as designing strategy and specific means for achievement of project objectives based on qualitative and quantitative analysis and assessment of research findings and implementation & management of the program designed. Interventions are a set of activities to address constraints/opportunities taking note of sustainability, achievability, leverage, market distortion, replication, phasing out and cross-cutting issues that need to be designed according to strategy formulated and carried out for accomplishment of project goals. Development of intervention strategy involves prioritizing problems/ constraints and opportunities for building efficient and optimized project strategy according to project goals, devising solutions to problems/constraints and crafting means to exploit opportunities as identified in the research, checking viability of strategy and interventions and finally designing appropriate implementation plan for executing interventions. Field executives of Rural Access equipped with relevant expertise carry out the task of implementation under careful supervision and guidance of the strategy and interventions design team. The field team also remains watchful of outcome of activities and provides regular feedback to the strategy formulation team for necessary changes/adaptation in strategy and action plans.

Strategy Development & Implementation is divided into the following sub-categories:

Project Strategy Development: Involves the process of designing  strategy through qualitative and quantitative data analysis to address obstacles for development/growth.

Designing Intervention(s): Designing a set of activities to address constraints and exploit opportunities while considering sustainability, doability, leverage, market distortion, replication, phasing out and cross-cutting issues.

Implementation of interventions: Carrying out designed intervention(s) in line with  the strategy to achieve the goals of the project.
